We have some great photos from the event provided by our friends at Eyes2See Photography — click here to see the gallery. You can also see the final results from the 5K run at this link

And, if you didn't get a chance to make a contribution on race day, it's not too late! Just click on the blue buttons on this page.

WHO is organizing this event?

The Second Annual Run Against Trafficking 5K in Arizona is organized by a group of concerned grassroots volunteers from across the Valley. They are working to address the critical issue of sex trafficking and the extraordinary suffering and pain that it causes. Our committee welcomes individuals, organizations and the public to come together and support this effort.

Non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply to be a beneficiary of this event, invite their supporters and use the race to build their support base.

WHAT are we doing?

The Run Against Trafficking 5K is the first public, community-wide event that has been established in Arizona to bring together organizations working to help the victims of trafficking, community leaders and the general public. Entry fee is $30 per person and includes an event t-shirt and access to all race day vendors.

WHY is this event being held?

After six months in Myanmar and Thailand in 2013, Brenda Gifford came home determined to make a difference. She organized the first annual Run Against Trafficking 5K in Arizona in 2014 and was all-in when it came to advocating for programs that assist victims of trafficking both here in Arizona and in Southeast Asia. As she worked on the inaugural event, she was shocked to learn the seriousness of the situation in Arizona. Arizona State Representative Doug Coleman invited her to attend the Governor's Task Force on Human Trafficking and from that day forward the effort refocused on Arizona and the immediate need to raise public awareness of the enormous and little-discussed problem here.

Brenda went to work with friends and fellow volunteers to create a 5K run/walk/roll/push-a- stroller event that anyone and everyone could be a part of. With a deep conviction that together we can do so much more than we can alone (and the notion that the larger the number of participants, the greater the impact on community awareness), she is a woman on a mission to build an army of volunteers committed to changing how we think about this issue. The first race in October 2014 was a huge success and Brenda is now back in Myanmar organizing an event to benefit their needs as well.
